WF76: Create versions of a Model-based RCM analysis

Pre-Requisites

  • A. RAM Module: access to the Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) Module is required to access Model-based RCM Analyses.
  • B. RCM Analysis shall be present.

Detailed Steps

  1. RCM Analysis source (MADE model or FMEA excel) modified — an RCM analysis can be created using the MADE model or FMEA excel import. If the source has changes and the analysis needs to be updated, continue to Step 3.
  2. Decision — RCM Analysis needs update? If no, No action is required.
  3. Open Model-based RCM — select 'Model-based RCM' in the 'Analyses' tab of the menu bar.
  4. Select an existing analysis — in the RCM Management tab, select an existing analysis that needs an update.
  5. Decision — Overwrite the changes in the chosen analysis? By default, MADE overwrites the existing analysis with updates from the FMEA source and creates a new version. If no (to preserve a copy), proceed to Step 6; if yes, proceed directly to Step 7.
  6. Create a copy of the analysis.
  7. Initiate update process — click the update icon.
  8. Decision — Workflow type Model-based FMEA? If yes, Complete the update process by setting the Level of analysis, End Effect, Criticality Profile, and Criticality Threshold. If no (FMEA excel), Complete the update process by selecting the updated FMEA excel file and the FMEA import configuration (update the FMEA import configuration if necessary).
  9. (Same step number covers both branches, per source diagram — FMEA excel path.)
  10. RCM analysis updated — the chosen RCM Analysis is updated with the changes from the source.

Screen-by-screen detail (from embedded screenshots)

  • Step 3: Open Model-based RCM — Main menu: Analyses > Model-based RCM.
  • Step 4: Select an Existing Analysis — "Model-based RCM" management view: "RCM Analyses" table (Name, System, Configuration, Workflow Type) — e.g. "RCM analysis for demo" (System "Vehicle System", Configuration "MSG-3", Workflow Type "Model-based FMEA"). Right panel "RCM Analysis Details": Name, Version (e.g. 1), Description, Created/Modified timestamps, Configuration, Workflow Type, System; "Mission Profile Definition" (Mission Profile e.g. "New Group", Duration e.g. "91.194 hr (3.8 days)", Mission Cycles "N/A", Σ Total "7,840 Kilometers").
  • Step 6: Create a Copy of the Analysis — Click the "copy" icon to create "RCM analysis for demo 1" (a duplicate entry appears in the RCM Analyses table alongside the original "RCM analysis for demo", both System "Vehicle System", Configuration "MSG-3", Workflow Type "Model-based FMEA").
  • Step 7: Initiate Update Process — Select the analysis to update (e.g. "RCM analysis for demo 1") and click the update icon (highlighted in the toolbar) to launch the "Update RCM Analysis wizard".
  • Step 8: Complete the Update Process (Model-based FMEA) — Wizard page 1: "Update RCM Analysis wizard - Update details of the RCM Analysis" shows Name, Description, Configuration (e.g. "MSG-3" — locked, cannot be edited within MADE yet), Workflow Type ("Model-based FMEA"), FMEA/FMECA analysis type (e.g. "CA (MIL-STD-1629A, Quantitative Standard)"). Page 2: "Analysis Options" — Level of Analysis (System/Component-Subsystem), Propagation Method (FCM/Bond), Output Options checkboxes, Path Control Number checkbox; "Analysis Context Summary" (End Effect, System, Criticality Profile e.g. "PHMT 1629A Criticality"); System Model tree to scope items. Page 3: "Criticality Threshold" — same radio options as WF75 (No Criticality Threshold, Fuzzy Criticality, RPN, MIL-STD-1629A, MIL-STD-882E, ARP4761, ISO 26262), each with a Threshold/Risk field.
  • Step 9: Complete the Update Process (FMEA Excel Import) — Wizard: Name (e.g. "RCM analysis for demo (FMEA import)"), Description, Configuration "MSG-3", Workflow Type "FMEA data import" (FMEA/FMECA analysis type field disabled — "The RCM Analysis uses imported FMEA data to generate the possible Maintainable Items, Functions and Failure Modes. A new MADE System will be created to contain the identified Maintainable Items."). Next page: "System" > Name field (e.g. "RCM analysis for demo (FMEA import)"), "FMEA data file location" (e.g. "C:/Users/Public/Documents/FMEA Import for MADE Training.xlsx") with Browse... button, "FMEA Data Import Configuration" dropdown (e.g. "FMEA import for MADE training") with "Use File..." and "Configure..." buttons.
  • Step 10: RCM Analysis is Updated — "RCM Analyses" table now shows the updated analysis with an incremented Version (e.g. Version 2), plus any newly created FMEA-import-based systems (e.g. "RCM demo for demo (FMEA import)", "RCM demo for demo (FMEA import) 1"), each with their own System, Configuration ("MSG-3"), and Workflow Type ("Model-based FMEA" or "FMEA data import").
