WF65: FHA Substantiation Actions

Pre-Requisites

  • A. MADE Project: a configured project.

Detailed Steps

  1. Navigate to Preferences in the task bar and select Project Preferences.
  2. Navigate to Functional Hazard Assessment and select Substantiation Actions. Click on the '+' icon to create a new Substantiation Action.
  3. Provide an ID, name, and narrative for the selected Substantiation Action. Select a type for the Substantiation Action from the listed taxonomy. Create a custom taxonomy in Preferences > Customize Taxonomy.
  4. Decision — All Substantiation Actions defined? If no, continue creating Substantiation Actions relevant to the functional model (return to Step 2). If yes, proceed to Step 5.
  5. All the Substantiation Actions for the functional model have been created.

  • Step 1: Open Project Preferences — Main menu: Preferences > Project Preferences > Functional Hazard Assessment (same summary page as WF62-WF64 with hyperlinks to Assumptions, Control Measures, Failure Effects, Safety Criteria, Substantiation Actions).
  • Step 2: Create Substantiation Action — Select "Substantiation Actions" node. "FHA Substantiation Actions" panel: "Create and/or edit Substantiation Actions that can be associated with FHA Failure Conditions" table (ID, Name, Narrative, Type) with green '+' to open "Create Substantiation Action" dialog.
  • Step 3: Define Substantiation Action — "Create Substantiation Action" dialog fields: ID (e.g. "SA_01"), Name (e.g. "Engine Performance Testing"), Narrative (e.g. "Conducting thorough testing of the engine's horsepower and torque output under various load conditions to validate its capability to meet performance requirements."), and "Select a Substantiation Action" taxonomy list: Historical Data, Inspection, Procedures & Training, Published Materials, Simulation studies, Test (selected in example). Documents table (Attachment, Date added) with add/upload/remove icons. Click OK. Second example: ID "SA_02", Name "Combustion Process Analysis", Narrative about analyzing combustion process for fuel efficiency, taxonomy options shown: Analysis (selected), Benchmarking studies, Demonstration, Design and Material standards, Documentation, Error-proofing.
  • Step 5: Substantiation Actions Created — "FHA Substantiation Actions" list now shows both created actions (e.g. SA_02 "Combustion Process Analysis" / Type "Analysis" and SA_01 "Engine Performance Testing" / Type "Test"). Click Apply and Close.
