4.1 Maintenance Type Terminology

The Maintenance Type Terminology is a list of task taxonomies defined in Application Preferences. The taxonomies are used in MBRCM, Maintenance Actions, Maintenance Cost Estimates, and Back-fit RCM. These taxonomies are mapped to MADE-specific maintenance action Type and Sub-type to determine maintenance operational function. The taxonomies can be customized within MADE and exported and imported as JSON files. The MADE Default is the default taxonomy defined within MADE. MSG-3 and RCM II taxonomies are also preconfigured (see Table 2 and Table 3 below) and available for selection.

To add a new maintenance type terminology set

1. Navigate to Task Menu and select Preferences > Application Preference (Figure 7)
2. Select Modelling > Maintenance Personnel (Figure 8)
3. Click the New icon
4. The Maintenance Type Terminology wizard will appear to create a new set (Figure 9)
5. Follow the steps discussed in "User defined maintenance set" below

To edit a maintenance type terminology set

1. Click the Edit icon
2. The Maintenance Type Terminology wizard will appear

Note: MADE Default, MSG-3, and RCM II can only be viewed (read-only), not edited.

To duplicate a maintenance type terminology set

1. Select a maintenance type terminology set
2. Click the Duplicate icon

To delete a user-defined maintenance type terminology set

1. Click the Delete icon
2. Click Ok

To export a maintenance type terminology set (JSON format)

1. Click the Export icon
2. Browse to the desired location to save the export file
3. Enter a file name
4. Click Save
5. Open the export file to view the data

To import a maintenance type terminology set (JSON format)

1. Click the Import icon
2. Browse to the desired location
3. Select the file
4. Click Open
5. View the data in MADE

User defined maintenance set

To add new mapped terminology, select the Add icon in the Maintenance Type Mapping table (Figure 10):

• Type maintenance term name in the Term field
• Enter a description for the maintenance term
• Under Maintenance Type (Table 1), select an option
• Under Maintenance Sub-type (Table 1), select an option

Additional controls:

• To edit existing mapped terminology, select the Edit icon
• Use the Move Up icon to move terminology up
• Use the Move Down icon to move terminology down
• Select the Delete icon to delete
