4 Maintenance Data Configuration
This feature enables the setup of a mapping configuration to link properties (source file & MADE) for importing maintenance data into the software. The maintenance data is categorized into Action, Tasks, Personnel, and Items, and the specific fields for each category are provided below.

Users can define custom taxonomy for these fields, which is discussed in the worked example (see import-configuration-guide-maintenance-example.md).
4.1 Step-by-Step Process Flow
The process flow describes the steps to create a configuration to import maintenance information.
Step 1: Select Preferences from the MADE menu and Select Application Preferences from the menu
Maintenance data import configurations are saved at the application level and accessible for reuse throughout all the projects.
To access: Navigate to Task Menu and select Preferences > Application Preferences.
Step 2: Select Maintenance Action from the menu
To access: Select Modeling > Import > Maintenance Action.
Figure 22 shows the Preferences (Filtered) tree with "Maintenance Action" highlighted under Modeling > Import, and an empty "Maintenance Action Import Configurations" table.
Step 3: Manage Maintenance Action Configurations
The Maintenance Action page lists all the import configurations created and includes the ability to create new/edit/copy/delete configurations.
To create a new configuration: Click the plus icon — it opens a new window.
Figure 23 ("Maintenance Action import configuration window") shows the "Maintenance Action Import Configuration" dialog: Name field (empty, error "A name must be specified for the maintenance action import configuration"), Description field, tabs Action / Tasks / Personnel / Items; Action tab: Worksheet field, Header Rows = 0, empty mapping table.
To edit a configuration: Select a configuration, click the edit icon.
To copy a configuration: Select a configuration, click the copy icon.
To delete a configuration: Select a configuration, click the delete icon.
To open a configuration: Double-click on a configuration.
After creating a configuration, select the checkbox in the Default column to set it as the default configuration for importing maintenance data.
Step 4: Define Configuration Details
To complete this:
- Click the plus icon to create a new configuration
- Enter a name for the configuration
- Enter a description for the configuration
Figure 24 shows Name = "Maintenance data for guide", Description = "Vhis configuration maps maintenance data for importing for guide" (as printed in the source, likely a typo for "This").
Note: The OK button in the Maintenance Action import configuration window is enabled when all the mandatory mappings are created.
Step 5: Complete the Mapping in Action Tab
This tab allows mapping of essential details for each maintenance action defined for an item, such as the Name, Maintenance Action ID, and Active? status. Users can provide a Description, specify Inspection Interval (hrs) and Maintenance Interval (hrs), and select the Location from options like Field, Local Depot, or Remote Depot. The Maintenance Type combines the type and sub-type of maintenance (e.g., Breakdown, Repair) to fully define the action. Table 4 (above) outlines the default taxonomy fields in the software.
