3.1 Criticality Profile Editor
The Criticality Profile Editor is used to view default criticality methods as well as create and modify custom criticality profiles.
To access this editor:
- Select Preferences > Criticality Profile Editor from the main menu
3.1.1 Overview/Management Page
The Overview/Management page consists of three sections:
- Project Profiles — displays active criticality profiles and a list of available profiles for the user to view and/or modify.
- Application Profiles — displays criticality profiles independent of the MADE project currently open. These profiles can be assigned to the Project Profiles section.
- Critical Profile Summary — displays descriptions and details of each selected profile.
3.1.1.1 Project Profiles
This section displays the currently active project profile and a list of profiles that the user can choose from.
To select a new Active Project Profile:
- Select the Active Project Profile drop-down menu
- Select a Profile
- Save changes
To delete a Criticality Profile:
- Select a Criticality Profile in the Project Profiles table
- Select the Delete icon
To filter out specific Criticality Profiles:
- Select the filter icon
- Deselect a criticality profile to remove it from the table
3.1.1.2 Application Profiles
This section displays criticality profiles saved to the MADE application. This section allows users to edit and assign profiles to the Project Profiles section.
To create a new/custom criticality profile:
- Select the Add New Profile icon
- Enter a Profile Name
- Select a Criticality Profile Type from the drop-down menu. Options include: Fuzzy RPN, ARP 4761, ISO26262
- Select OK to close the dialog and complete new criticality profile creation
To copy an existing criticality profile:
- Select an existing criticality profile from the Application profiles table
- Select the Copy icon
- Verify that the copied profile is displayed in the table
To add a selected criticality profile to the list of Project Profiles:
- Select a Criticality Profile in the Application Profiles table
- Select the Copy Profile to Project icon
- Verify that the selected profile is displayed in the Project Profiles table
To copy a selected criticality profile from the Project Profiles table to Application Profiles:
- Select a Criticality Profile from the Project Profiles table
- Select the Copy Profile to Application icon
- Verify that the selected profile is displayed in the Application Profiles table
To delete or filter out specific criticality profiles, refer to the steps in section 3.1.1.1.
3.1.1.3 Criticality Profile Summary
This section of the Criticality Profile editor displays information about a selected profile. The fields shown include:
- Name (Editable)
- Description (Editable)
- Owner (Automatically Updated)
- Created Date (Automatically Updated)
- Modified By (Automatically Updated)
- Date Modified (Automatically Updated)
Except for Name and Description, all other fields in this section are automatically generated by MADE.
3.1.2 Custom Fuzzy Profile Pages
This page is shown when creating a custom criticality profile based on the Fuzzy RPN criticality profile type. This page displays a list of fuzzifiers and the linguistic terms/details for each fuzzifier. Additional sub-pages are shown in the left menu, consisting of rules and criticality factor pages.
To modify this fuzzy profile:
- Select the Lock Icon on the Fuzzy Profile tab
- Verify that the icon is in the unlocked state by selecting the lock body
- Select the lock body once more to lock the profile
While unlocked, the user can make modifications to linguistic terms, linguistic term details, and fuzzy memberships.
3.1.2.1 Apparent Occurrence Page
This page allows the user to verify the apparent occurrence results by evaluating causal probability and occurrence entered.
To run this evaluation:
- Enter a Causal Probability value
- Enter an Occurrence value
- Select Evaluate
- View results: Apparent Occurrence, Membership & Term, including visual representation in the Apparent Occurrence graph on the right
- If the desired results are not met, select the Causal Probability or Occurrence graphs to make modifications to those memberships
3.1.2.2 Apparent Occurrence Rules
This page allows the user to view and modify the apparent occurrence rules between occurrence and causal probability, as represented by a grid based on the number of linguistic terms of each fuzzy set.
To modify the levels of Apparent Occurrence:
- Move the cursor to a grid square
- Select the left/right arrows to cycle to another linguistic term
- Repeat until the desired changes are made for all grid squares
- Save changes
3.1.2.3 Apparent Severity Page
This page allows the user to verify the apparent severity results by evaluating progression rate and severity entered. Evaluation actions are identical to Apparent Occurrence (see section 3.1.2.1).
3.1.2.4 Apparent Severity Rules
This page allows the user to view and modify the apparent severity rules between severity and progression rate, as represented by a grid based on the number of linguistic terms of each fuzzy set. Modification actions are identical to Apparent Occurrence (see section 3.1.2.2).
3.1.2.5 Criticality Page
This page allows the user to verify the fuzzy criticality results by evaluating the values for three fuzzy sets: apparent occurrence, apparent severity, and difficulty of detection. Evaluation actions are identical to Apparent Occurrence and Severity (see section 3.1.2.1 as an example).
3.1.2.6 Criticality Rules
This page allows the user to view and modify the Fuzzy Criticality rules between Difficulty of Detection and Apparent Occurrence for each severity linguistic term, as represented by a grid based on the number of linguistic terms of each fuzzy set.
To modify the levels of Fuzzy Criticality:
- Select a Severity Linguistic Term
- Move the cursor to a grid square
- Select the left/right arrows to cycle to another linguistic term
- Repeat until the desired changes are made for all grid squares
- Save changes
3.1.3 Custom ARP & ISO Profile Pages
This page is shown when creating a custom criticality profile based on the ARP and ISO criticality profile type. This page displays a list of definitions, their linguistic terms/details, and a range chart showing the graphical representation of the profile. Additional sub-pages are shown in the left menu, consisting of rules and criticality factor pages.
To modify this fuzzy profile:
- Select the Lock Icon on the Fuzzy Profile tab
- Verify that the icon is in the unlocked state by selecting the lock body
- Select the lock body once more to lock the profile
While unlocked, the user can make modifications to linguistic terms, linguistic term details, and the range chart.
3.1.3.1 Severity Rules (ARP Profiles Only)
This page allows the user to view and modify the apparent severity rules between Local Effect Severity and Top Effect Severity, as represented by a grid based on the number of linguistic terms of each severity set.
To modify the levels of Apparent Severity:
- Move the cursor to a grid square
- Select the left/right arrows to cycle to another linguistic term
- Repeat until the desired changes are made for all grid squares
- Save changes
3.1.3.2 Risk Rules (ARP Profiles Only)
This page allows the user to view and modify the Risk Rules between Probability and Severity, as represented by a grid based on the number of linguistic terms of each linguistic set. Modification actions are identical to Apparent Occurrence (see section 3.1.2.2).
3.1.3.3 ASIL Rules (ISO Profiles Only)
This page allows the user to view and modify the ASIL rules between Exposure and Controllability for each Severity, as represented by a grid based on the number of linguistic terms of each ASIL. Modification actions are identical to Apparent Occurrence (see section 3.1.2.2).
