WF44: Importing New Requirements

Pre-Requisites

• A. MADE Project: a configured project.
• B. Requirements File: an excel file listing the Requirement ID, Requirement Name, and associated details.

Detailed Steps

1. Select 'New' under 'File' in the main menu bar. Alternatively, use the 'New' icon in the main toolbar.
2. Select 'Requirements' under 'Modeling' in the main menu bar. Alternatively, right-click the system from the Project Explorer and select 'Requirements'.
3. Select the Import button to access the Requirements Import Wizard.
4. Select the Requirements import file and the Requirements import configuration (see WF43: Set the Requirement Import Configuration).
5. Link Requirements with the associated Model Items by selecting the link icon.
6. Specify whether to import or omit unlinked Requirements.
7. Requirements imported to MADE.

• Step 2: Access Requirements Landing Page — Project Explorer > right-click system (e.g. "[VS1] Vehicle System") > select "Requirements" (alongside New, System Model, Failure Diagram, Bond Graph, Functions, Functional Diagram). Opens the "Requirements - Vehicle System" view with a Requirement List (columns: Req. ID, Name, Classification, Linked Model Items, Verification Method), a Dashboard pie chart (Allocated / Unallocated), and Requirement Details panel (Requirement ID, Requirement Name, DID No., DID Title, Description; tabs for Linked Model Items, Requirements Summary, Mission Profile, Mission Events and Conditions, Verification).
• Step 3: Access Requirements Import Wizard — Click the "Import Requirements" icon in the Requirement List toolbar. Opens "Import Requirements" wizard, first page "Specify the Requirement file location and import configuration" with fields Requirement file location (Browse... button) and Requirement Configuration dropdown (with Configure... button).
• Step 4: Import Requirements — After specifying file (e.g. "C:\Users\Sam\Documents\Testing\MADE_Requirments.xlsx") and Requirement Configuration ("Requirement Import"), click Next. Wizard then shows a two-pane linking screen: left "Requirements" tree (parsed from file, e.g. Requirement 1, 1.1, 1.2, 1.2.1, 1.2.2, Requirement 2, 2.1, 2.2) and right "System Model" tree of the project's items (e.g. Vehicle System > Coupling, Driveline > Differential/Driveshaft/Half Shafts/Planetary Gearboxes/Transmission/Wheels, Power Generation > Control Unit/Diesel Engine components/Fuel Tank, Vehicle).
• Step 5: Link Requirements to Model Items — Select a requirement in the left list and a model item in the right list, then click the link/chain icon ("Create link") between the panes to associate them (e.g. Requirement 1.2.1 linked to Differential).
• Step 6: Specify Requirements Import — Final wizard page lists "Unlinked Requirements" tree and offers two radio options: "Import all requirements" or "Only import linked requirements". Click Finish.
• Step 7: Requirements Imported — Requirements List now populated (e.g. Requirement 1 through 2.2 with Classifications like Performance, Mission Critical, Design, Safety Critical), Dashboard shows Allocated (1) / Unallocated (7) counts, and Requirement Details/Linked Model Items panels are populated for the selected requirement.
