MADE Workflows > Create User-defined Sensor Library and Sensors
WF34: Create User-defined Sensor Library & Sensors
Pre-requisites
- PHM Module: ability to create sensor library and sensors requires access to the Prognostics Health Management module.
- Configured Project: a project that has been created and adequately defined (see WF02).
- Sensor Information: Sensor data (e.g. sensor specifications or datasheet).
Detailed Descriptions (numbered steps)
- Access 'Sensor Library' under 'Modeling' in the main menu bar or via the Sensor Library icon in the toolbar.
- Add a User-defined Sensor Library via the right-click context menu or the "Add a User Sensor Library" button on the right-hand side. Define a Name and Description for the Library.
- Add a Sensor Category via the context menu or the "Add a Sensor Category" button, which will create a new sensor category under the selected user sensor library. Define a Name and Description for the Category.
- Define the Sensed Elements that sensors within the category will be able to detect, by checking the relevant tick-boxes.
- Continue adding categories until all categories are defined. Sub-categories may be defined within a parent category.
- Select a target category to begin creating sensors within.
- Add a sensor to the category via the context menu opened on the category or with the green plus icon button.
- Define the sensor details and parameters that include name, costs, MTTF, Probability of Detection and Specificity.
- Define the sensed element(s) that are relevant to the sensor. This list is populated by the sensed elements that were defined for parent categories.
- Define any additional information for the sensor.
- Repeat the process until all sensors have been defined for all categories within the user-defined sensor library.
- User-defined Sensor Library with categories and sensors have been created.
Fields referenced in the diagram
- Add User Sensor Library: Library Name, Library Description
- Add Sensor Category: Category Name, Category Description
- Add New Sensor: Sensor Name, Part Number, Vendor, Vendor Number, Dimensions, Weight, Sensor Cost, Cost of Detection, MTTF, MTTR, Probability of Detection, Specificity
- Define Additional Sensor Information: Description, Detection Method, Signal Type, Operating Environment, Constraints
Decision points
- All categories defined? — No → loop back to Add Sensor Category; Yes → Select Category.
- All Sensors Defined? — No → loop back to Select Category; Yes → User-defined Sensor Library Created.
Outputs
- Sensor Library: a user-defined sensor library with sensors enabling further Prognostics Health Management analyses. These libraries can be exported as a file which can be shared. The file can be locked to prevent changes to defined sensor parameters.
