WF19: Prepare Model-based RCM Analysis
Pre-requisites
- A MADE Model: An RCM analysis is created (see WF75).
Detailed Descriptions (numbered steps)
- In RCM Management tab, double-click on the RCM analysis to open it, if it is not already open.
- For Model-based FMEA workflow, the active mission profile is selected by default. Review mission profile duration, mission cycles, mission parameter sum, and description. These parameters establish baseline & revised item reliability and availability metrics. To change the mission profile in RCM, first reset the active mission profile in Mission Profile Definition and then create a new version of the RCM analysis by clicking the version button in RCM Management tab. For FMEA excel import workflow, the mission profile is disabled.
- Identify potential maintenance significant item(s) (MSI) to be included in RCM analysis. It can be refined by thresholding based on item properties such as Critical, Safety, Mission Critical, Loss of system, Baseline Reliability, and Baseline Inherent Availability.
- Define operating context under which the MSI operates to tailor strategies to ensure optimal performance and reliability and the expected performance criteria and reliability standards that the MSI should meet. For model-based RCM analysis, mission phases, duration of operation, operational conditions and environmental conditions are summarized for MSI.
- Select a function of the chosen MSI to initiate the Significant Function (SF) logic workflow to designate as significant function (SF) or not.
- Assess the selected MSI function by answering a series of questions in the SF logic workflow to designate as SF and enter answer narrative. SFs require further assessment.
- Select and open a failure mode for further assessment to determine its consequence, assigning task(s), technical feasibility of task(s) and task(s) selection.
- RCM analysis is prepared. See WF20 to continue RCM analysis.

Step 3: Identify Potential Maintenance Significant Item (MSI)

Step 4: Define Mission Context
- "Mission Context" tab: "Mission Profile Overview" tabs Operational Metrics / Functional Profile (selected: Functional Profile). Step 5: Select MSI Function
