The ABD/RBD Viewer is an analysis which generates the reliability and availability

of items such as systems, subsystems, components and parts based on their reliability

parameters. Any RBD groups defined in the ABD/RBD editors are also calculated and

displayed.

To generate a RBD Analysis:

  1. Select "Analyses → RBD Analysis" from the main menu
  2. Verify that the ABD/RBD viewer appears at the bottom of the screen
  3. Expand the levels of indenture and review the columns
  4. If changes are required, edit the criticality parameters and refresh the ABD/RBD viewer

The columns in the RBD analysis are described in the table below.

Column Description
Item Lists the model item or RBD group by level of indenture
Reliability The probability of failure-free performance under stated conditions
Mean Time To Failure Equivalent to MTBF for non-repairable items. In the context of an exponential reliability distribution the MTTF is the inverse of part failure rate.
Inherent Availability The probability that, when used under stated conditions in an ideal support environment without consideration for preventive action, a system will operate satisfactorily at any time.
Operational Availability The reliability of the system without considering critical items.
MTTR The meantime to repair represents the average time required to repair a failed item.
Replaceable The meantime to repair represents the average time required to repair a failed item.
Duration of Operation A time duration in which an item (subsystem, component, part) will be in active operation. In MADE, this value is taken from the item advanced properties or automatically drawn from the Mission Profile if available.
Failure Rate Total number of failures within an item population, divided by the total number of life units expended by that population, during a measurement interval under stated conditions.
Characteristic For a Weibull distribution, this corresponds to a time value when 63.2% of a batch of items have failed.
Slope For a Weibull distribution, this corresponds to a time value when 63.2% of a batch of items have failed.
