5 Mission Profile Definition Reports

The MADE Report Wizard contains two types of reports that utilize information entered in the MPD editor:

Report Description
Mission Profile Report A report which presents the general outcomes of a selected mission profile including mission details, operating scenarios, mission success metrics, and duty cycles. The user can select from a list of mission profiles or groups on the second page of the report wizard.
Mission Effective Functions List (MEFL) A report which details the critical components required for a capability in a mission profile. The MEFL report includes mission success metrics, a time profile, key mission parameters and a mission analysis that details the functional importance and required items for each capability. The user can select from a list of mission profiles on the second page of the report wizard.

Figure 27 shows the Report Wizard's report list (PDF): Maintenance Actions Report, Maintenance Actions Report (Abridged), Maintenance Cost Estimates Report; Mission Profile Definition (expanded: Mission Effective Functions List, Mission Profile Report, Operating Environment Report, Operating Environment Comparison Report); Prognostics and Health Management (Test Point Report, Sensor Set Details Report); Reliability & Availability (Reliability Block Diagram Report, Reliability Allocation Report); Reliability-centered Maintenance (RCM Analysis Report, Back-Fit RCM Report); Safety (Common Mode Analysis Report, Hazard Analysis Report, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) Report, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) Cut Set Report, Functional Hazard Assessment (SAE ARP4761 REV: A)). Description panel: "Mission Profile Definition or MPD reports are focused on Mission Profile Definition. MPD reports detail information such as system capabilities, functional importance and loading factors."

5.1 Mission Profile Report

The Mission Profile report consists of 10 sections:

Cover Page Contains the report title, report description, project details, document signoff & control fields, and company details such as logos and contact details.
Glossary of Terms Displays a table containing all terminology used in the report and their definitions.
Mission Profile Group Displays a table showing Mission Group details, a table with a list of mission profiles included in the mission group and their respective details.
Mission Profile Definition Displays the details of a Mission Profile, including a table summarising the phase and segment details.
Mission Parameters Displays a table showing the mission parameters of a mission profile, including numerical values and durations.
Mission Parameters Graph Displays the Mission Profile – Parameters chart, including phases, segments and mission parameters.
Mission Success Metrics Displays a table showing mission success criteria and its details.
Importance Ranking Displays a table showing mission success metrics, their associated function & flow property, mission phase and importance ranking.
Acceptable Limits Per Function Displays a table showing functions and flow properties, their corresponding phases, and acceptable upper/lower limits.
Duty Cycles [Per Item] Displays one table per item which shows the Phase/Phase ID, Segment, Duration, and Duty Cycle percentage.

Mission Parameters Graph (Figure 33): plots Distance (Kilometers) rising from 0.00 (Initial) through 0.00 (Ignition), 0.50 (Acceleration), 10.50 (Cruise), 11.00 (Turning), 11.00 (Highway A1... wait, per table) 90.00 (Highway A1), 100.00 (Highway B2), 111.00 (Mountain Terrain), 111.00 (Deceleration), 112.00 (Shut-down) against a "Phase or Segment (Elapsed Time)" x-axis.

5.2 Mission Effectiveness Functions List (MEFL) Report

The MEFL report consists of 6 sections:

Mission Success Metrics (Figure 37): Name = "Transport Personnel", Success Criteria = "5 people and luggage", Minimum Success Criteria = "2 people and luggage", System Flow Property = "Convert Mechanical - rotational Angular velocity (Vehicle System)" (×2 rows).

Mission Analysis (Figure 38, "MISSION SUCCESS METRIC: TRANSPORT PERSONNEL"): for Time Profile row ID 1.1 (Start-up/Ignition), Function and Flow = "Convert Mechanical - rotational Angular velocity (Vehicle System)" (two entries), Importance of Function and Flow to Phase = Low, Acceptable Limits Upper = 0.0 rad/s, Lower = 0.0 rad/s, and a full list of Critical Components: Governor, Coupling 1, Engine, Air Filter, Primary Fuel Filter, Injector Pump, Lift Pump, Secondary Fuel Filter, Inlet, Lining, Control Unit, Vehicle, Coupling — listed identically for both Function and Flow entries.

This MEFL "Mission Analysis" table is the report's core deliverable: for every phase/segment and every mission-critical function & flow property, it enumerates which physical components in the system model are "critical" (i.e. required to deliver that function within its acceptable limits during that phase) — directly supporting sensor-placement, redundancy, and criticality decisions tied to a specific mission profile.
