MADE 3.9.1 User Manual > Sensors
Sensor Set Focus
Sensor Focus allows you to set the Sensor Analysis to cover only the failures that
lead selected Component(s) Flow(s) failure(s). That is you can focus your sensors
analysis according to a Primary end effect. This technique is known as **Analysis
Focus**.
MADE also allows you check the coverage of a Sensor set according to a select Focus
end effect(s). This can be done irrespective of the initial analysis Focus. This is
known as Coverage Focus.
MADE allows you to analysis for Sensors according to the Primary end
effect and then use the Coverage Focus to determine how efficient that sensor
set is at covering a "Secondary" end effect. Furthermore the Coverage Focus
can also be applied to "User defined Sensor Sets" (or Legacy Sets) to
determine their coverage on the different Primary and Secondary end effects of the
System.
Analysis Focus
Sensor Analysis Focus is always setup during the initial Sensor Analysis Process and
remains persistent throughout the life cycle of the Sensor Set.
This focus setting outlines the target end effect Failures for analysis and when
undertaken all other end-effect responses, and their causes, are filtered out from the
propagation analysis. The result of this is the creation of Sensor sets that are
designed to firstly diagnose the select end effect failures.
Setting the Analysis focus is achieved in the Sensor Analysis Wizards second stage.

Each Sensor Set details its Analysis setting under the Analysis Preferences area or
the Sensor Set Form.

The analysis focus can also be used to determine the sensor set for errors of
specific Flow type. To achieve this:
- Set analysis focus on one or more Components that output the flow of focus (the more components selected the more varied the analysis will be).
- Run the Sensor Analysis as normal.
- The resultant Sensor Set will be appropriate for changes of flow in ALL selected Components.
Following this process the Sensor Coverage function of a Sensor set can be used
to determine the coverage of the Sensors on other Flows within the System.
Coverage Focus
Sensor Coverage Focus takes the same analysis filtering procedure as is done when
analysing for Analysis Focus yet it compares the resultant analysis against the
selected Sensor Set in order to determine the coverage of the Sensor Set on the
Selected Coverage Focus.
The Coverage Focus Selection is similar to the Analysis Focus Selection and once set
the Analysis can be immediately updated or the settings can be saved for later
analysis.

The Coverage Focus setting can be altered from within the Sensor Set Form under the
Propagation Focuses section. Following the reanalysis of the Sensor Set the analysis
details will be updated to represent the coverage according to the current Coverage
Analysis.
For example, below displays Sensor Set analysis prior to Coverage Focus Settings,
where the Sensors are capable of covering 50% of all End-Effect failures (according to
Analysis Focus).
However when refining the Coverage Focus we see that for the selected end-effect
failures the Sensors will provide 55% coverage.
