2. Introduction

2.1 RAM Analyses

This manual provides the information and steps required to analyze a MADE model in terms of its reliability, availability and maintenance (RAM). This user manual describes RAM Module functionality and user interface using the Vehicle System used in the MADE manual.

To select the RAM module:

• Select the RAM icon in the Icon Menu, or
• Select View > Open Module > RAM from the Main Menu

2.2 Objectives

This RAM Module manual guides the user in completing the following:

• Enter Reliability data for items/elements in the system model
• Create Groupings for Reliability Block Diagram (RBD) Items
• Conduct a Reliability analysis on the RBD model
• Conduct a Functional Fault Tree Analysis

Other analyses available in the RAM Module, not included in this guide, can be found in dedicated guides in MADE Help. These include:

• Reliability Allocation Analysis
• Maintenance Cost Estimates Analysis
• Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) — Model-Based & Back-Fit methods

2.3 System Information

The examples and figures used in this manual are based on the Vehicle System in the MADE Example Systems Library. Expanding the categories MADE Example Systems > Mechanical > Vehicle System and dragging this item into the System Model editor will show the Vehicle System FBD.

2.4 User Workflows

The workflows below display RAM module analyses found in user guides. Analyses included in the RAM module manual are presented at the start of each section.
