3. Back-Fit Reliability-Centered Maintenance
3.1 Accessing the Back-Fit RCM Editor
To access the Back-Fit RCM editor for a new analysis, select a component from the System Model Canvas or Project Explorer. The guide uses the Fuel Tank component under the Power Generation subsystem for the Back-Fit RCM analysis example.
- Select (right-click) a component
- Select "Back-Fit RCM" from the menu
A new editor will appear, consisting of three tabs on the left-section:
- NAVSEA Road Map: Shows all the pages to conduct the steps required for the Back-Fit RCM Analysis.
- Maintenance Association: Shows a table and graphical representation (pie chart) of the maintenance distribution, costs, and durations.
- Back-Fit Summary: Shows a list of maintenance actions involved in the analysis, and the time span that the Back-Fit RCM analysis is conducted over.
3.2 Back-Fit Summary
The Back-Fit Summary Page can be accessed by selecting the third tab "Back-Fit Summary" on the left column of the Back-Fit RCM editor. This page contains two main sections:
- Back-Fit RCM Time Span
- Proposed Maintenance Actions
3.2.1 Back-Fit RCM Time Span
This section allows the user to set the time duration and associated narrative in which the Back-Fit RCM analysis will be conducted.
To populate these fields:
- Select a unit of time from the drop-down menu. Options available are: Seconds, Minutes, Hours, Days, Weeks, Months, Years
- Enter a numerical value in the time-span field (left of unit menu)
- Select the Narrative box and enter alphanumeric text to describe the Back-Fit RCM Time Span used for the analysis
- Select "Save" in the icon menu to save all changes
3.2.2 Proposed Maintenance Actions
This section allows the user to review proposed maintenance actions that have been assigned through the Back-Fit RCM analysis. This table will appear blank when there are no maintenance actions associated.
To view the failure paths that are covered by a maintenance action:
- Select the expand button next to each maintenance action. This will show the failure paths (faults, failure modes) associated with each selected Maintenance Action.
- Select the collapse button to minimize the selection.
