Managing Failure Diagrams: Override Failure Diagrams

The Override of Failure Diagrams functionality provides the ability to bypass the predefined failure diagram of a specific system, component, or part-pair. This feature enables you to customize failure behavior for individual items.

Definition

To determine if Override Failure Diagrams is active for a component or subsystem, you can check for an indicator icon next to it.

How to override the failure diagram of a component?

  1. Locate the component for which you would like to override its failure diagram, then right-click on it.
  2. Click on the "Override Failure Diagram" button. An icon appears next to the component in the top left.
  3. You can customize the feature from the "Properties" tab.

FMECA Report Exclusion Criteria

Components and systems that have an active override of their failure diagram will be automatically excluded from the Failure Modes and Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) report. This ensures that only components with valid and active failure paths are considered during the assessment process, maintaining the integrity and relevance of the analysis.

Behavior of Failure Propagation with Override Enabled

When failure propagation is initiated, the propagation process will continue through items that have an active override of their failure diagram. Despite the override bypassing traditional failure paths, these items still participate in the failure flow, allowing downstream elements to be affected based on system logic and configuration.
