methods are capable of finding:
- Model Items (Systems, Subsystems, Components, Parts & Pairs)
- Functions
- Flows
- Flow properties
- Failure Concepts (Cause, Mechanisms, Faults, Failure Modes & Symptoms)
Once a search result is found, the user proceeds to the 'Replace' page to select a
model parameter to change. Model parameters include:
- Characteristic Life
- Delay Time
- Difficulty of Detection
- Duration of Operation
- Item Number
- Mean Time To Failure

- Vendor Number
Basic Search
Basic search looks at the item Display Name or Synonym, then provides a quick
method of finding a model element without going through the more lengthy setup required
in Advanced search. This search will match any name or synonym that contains the text
without requiring the use of regular expressions. For example, searching for
"motor" would match "motor" and " electric motor" but not
"rotor".
Basic search utilises regular expressions for matching e.g. searching for
"[0-9]+$" will match any name or synonym that ends in a number e.g.
"motor 1" but not "motor" or "motor 1a".
To conduct a basic search:
- Enter text into the search box
- Select "Search"
- View table in the Search Result Section for results
- Proceed to Replace page by selecting Replace tab on the left

Advanced Search
Advanced search shows more detailed properties for model elements and allows
matching only when properties meet specified criteria. This search method is selected
by selecting the "Advanced" tab.

Replace Page
The Replace page enables the user to change properties of search results to a new
value. Selected parameters are all updated at once, allowing for rapid bulk
modification of model parameters.
This page consists of a Replace section where model parameters and new values are
set. The search results section shows a table with columns for model items, current
model parameter values and a third "Update" column for users to select a
check-box indicating that the corresponding parameter shall be updated with a new
value.
