MADE 3.9.1 User Manual > Modelling > Dynamic Modelling

Dynamic Functions

A dynamic function is a single function selected to represent its dynamic

component. A dynamic funciton has a dark grey shade when a bond type is assigned to

the item.

There can be multiple functions within a dynamic component, however there can

only be one dynamic function. From this dynamic function, multiple flow

properties can be activated but only one set of flow properties can be set as the

primary dynamic function.

MADE restricts one dynamic function per item at any one time. If another function

is assigned to an item it will remain as a non-dynamic function.

  • See Functional Modelling on how to construct an item functional definition.
  • To set a function as "dynamic", select a bond type from the Properties Viewer (select Bond Tab), and select a bond type from the drop down list.

Primary OUT Flow Properties

There must be at least one input flow property connected to an output flow

property within the dynamic function (both must use flows from the energy domains).

Unselected flow properties or flows with more than one flow property selected will

show an error in the Problems Viewer.

The first flow property

activated by the user will automatically set primary. To activate a flow property:

  1. Check the check box to activate a flow property. The first activated input flow property is set as a primary flow.
  2. Left-click then drag from one input flow property to an output flow property to create a connection between flow properties. Connecting the flow property will automatically activate both flow properties in the IN and OUT Flow. The first activated output flow property is set as the primary flow.

To disable primary on a flow property: right-click a flow property then select

"Disable Flow Property" from the options provided.
