Failures of Functions

This chart type quantifies and displays the number of failure concepts

associated with each type of function within selected components/subsystems.

It associates a failure concept (cause, mechanism, fault, functional failure

mode) with a function by the summation of the number of causal paths leading from

the failure concepts to any failure of that function.

This chart type aims to assess the functional requirements of a conceptual

design prior to hardware specification and compare the susceptibility of

different functional designs.
