4.6 Mission Context
In the Model-Based FMEA workflow, the Mission Context tab displays the Functional Profile and phases/segments defined for the system, along with operational and environmental conditions, the duty cycle, and the operating duration of the Maintainable Item for the active mission profile at the time of creation of the analysis. This tab helps define the operating context and the performance standards of the item to tailor the RCM strategies.
For FMEA data imports, all the aforementioned sections are unavailable, but it still allows defining the item's operating context and performance standards.
Note: Any changes in mission profile are synchronized when the analysis is updated (Figure 48).
4.6.1 Operational Metrics
The Operational Metrics section includes a time profile graph of the selected maintainable item. This graph provides a comprehensive visual representation of all the phases and segments within the mission profile. The operational phases or segments (where duty cycle > 0%) are highlighted with color, enabling easy identification. The graph includes the total duration of operation of the item in the top row, and it sums up the duration of each phase in the bottom row. The duty cycle is shown as a percentage in the Phase/Segment row (Figure 49: example, "Time profile graph of Coupling").
To review the time profile graph
- Select an item in the Maintainable Items section
Note:
- All the fields are read-only. Navigate to Menu: Modelling > Mission Profile Definition to modify the Phases/segments and duty cycle and then update the analysis to reflect the changes.
- This section is unavailable for FMEA data imports.
4.6.2 Maintainable Item Context
The Maintainable Item Context section displays the mission phases/segments, operational conditions, environmental conditions, and allows for defining the operating context and performance standards for the Maintainable Item. Operating context and performance standards are the only editable fields. Navigate to Menu: Modelling > Mission Profile Definition to modify the mission profile and then update the analysis to reflect the changes.
To review Phases and Segments in which the Maintainable Item operates (Figure 50)
- Select an item in the Maintainable Items section
- Select the Phases and Segments tab in the Maintainable Item Context section

- Phases/segments in which the item's duty cycle > 0% is listed. All fields are read-only.
- Phases/segments is unavailable for FMEA data imports.
To review the Operational Conditions for the Maintainable Item (Figure 51)
- Select an item in the Maintainable Items section
- Select the Operational Condition tab in the Maintainable Item Context section

To review the Environmental Conditions for the Maintainable Item

- Select the Environmental Condition tab in the Maintainable Item Context section

To define the operating context and performance standards of the MSI (Figure 52)
- Select an item in the Maintainable Items section
- Select the Narratives tab in the Maintainable Item Context section
4.6.3 Functional Profile
For Model-Based FMEA, the Functional Profile displays the acceptable limits for the output flows of each function defined for the system and the importance ranking assigned to each Mission Success Metric associated with the output flows of each function. All fields are read-only. Navigate to Menu: Modelling > Mission Profile Definition to modify and then update the analysis to reflect the changes. This section is unavailable for FMEA data imports (Figure 53).
Continue the analysis by selecting the Functional Failure Analysis tab to assess the functions of the MSIs.
