MADE Module Guides > Back-Fit RCM > NAVSEA Roadmap - Classification and Applicability
3.3.3 Classification
"3. Classification" is the third page in the NAVSEA Road Map tabbed menu and is the last step in the Age Degradation filter of the NAVSEA Road Map. This page contains the Maintenance Type Tasks based on the classifications used by the NAVSEA Road Map. Each Maintenance Type is described by its relevant action, circumstance, typical task, and whether the maintenance is initially evident.
The user selects a radio button for the appropriate maintenance type, then selects the link in the lower right corner to continue to the Applicability page.
3.3.4 Applicability
"4. Applicability" is the fourth page in the NAVSEA Road Map tab and coincides with the first process in the Applicability filter of the NAVSEA Road Map. This page contains 3 main sections to assess whether a maintenance action is suitable for the selected failure path:
- Applicability of Existing Maintenance Action
- Existing Maintenance Action (see section 3.3.2.2)
- Recommended Action (see section 3.3.2.3)
This section shows a questionnaire that involves answering one or two questions, depending on the answers given by the user, in order to determine the progress of the Back-Fit analysis.
Question 1: Is the Existing Maintenance Action applicable?
- Response: YES
- Recommendation: Continue Analysis, go to step 5: Failure Consequences
- Response: NO
- Recommendation: Continue Analysis, answer next question
Question 2: Is the Existing Maintenance Action applicable? (follow-up question)
(Note: the source text repeats the same question wording, "Is the Existing Maintenance Action applicable?", for both Question 1 and Question 2 — this is reproduced faithfully as it appears in the extracted PDF text. It is possible the second question's wording differs slightly in the live UI/PDF figure and was not fully captured by text extraction; the source guide's Figure 31/32 captions describe it simply as the "first two maintenance action applicability questions".)
- Response: NO (Q1), YES (Q2)
- Recommendation: Modify Task, go to step 8 (the source text says "step 8: Failure Consequences" — note this appears to be an inconsistency in the source: step 8 in the roadmap is elsewhere named "Proposed Maintenance", and "Failure Consequences" is step 5; this discrepancy is reproduced verbatim from the source text rather than corrected, since it could reflect either a source document typo or a UI label nuance not otherwise captured here.)
- Response: NO (Q1), NO (Q2)
- Recommendation: RE-DESIGN, go to step 1: Identify Failure Mode
