4.10 Complete Mission Success Metrics Page (Step 9)
The next step in completing the mission profile is to create mission success metrics. To open this page: select the Mission Success Metrics tab.
The Mission Success Metrics page is divided into three sections:

| Mission Success Metrics Details | Provides fields for the user to enter a Mission Success Metric name, success criteria, minimum success criteria and checkboxes to associate these details to listed system flow properties (highest LOI output flows of the system model). |
To create a Mission Success Metric:
- Select the Add New Mission Success Metric button
- Enter the Mission Success Metric name in the Name field
- Enter the Mission Success Metric success criteria in the Success Criteria field
- Enter the Mission Success Metric minimum success criteria in the Minimum Success Criteria field
- Select checkboxes to associate system flow properties with the mission success metric
Figure 22 ("Created and defined Mission Success Metric") shows: ID 1, Name = "Transport Personnel", Success Criteria = "5 people and luggage", Minimum Success Criteria = "2 people and luggage", System Flow Properties: two checked entries both reading "To Convert the Mechanical - rotational A..." (Angular velocity).
4.11 Complete Functional Profile Page (Step 10)
The next step in completing the mission profile is to define the functional profile. To open this page: select the Functional Profile tab.
The Functional Profile Definition section contains a table with several editable rows:

| System Flow Property | These rows display the system flow properties associated with the mission success metric, as defined in the Mission Success Metrics page. |
| Acceptable Limit (Lower & Higher) | These rows allow the user to define the maximum and minimum limits of a flow property using numerical values. These values are divided based on the number of mission phases in the mission profile. |
| Mission Success Metric | These rows display the mission success metric name and associate the importance ranking of the mission success metric for a specified mission phase. The importance ranking terminology includes: None, Very Low, Low, Moderate, High, Very High and Clear (which resets the cell to its previous selection). |
To complete the Functional Profile page:
- Select the cells for the Acceptable upper/lower limits and enter numerical values
- Select the cell for mission success metrics and select the appropriate importance ranking associated with the mission success metric to a mission phase
- Repeat for all phases until the entire mission profile is defined
Figure 23 shows the "Functional Profile Definition" table for "To Convert the Mechanical - rotational Angular velocity" across phases 1: Start-up through 7: Shut-down:

Figure 24 shows the same table with a dropdown open on a "1: Transport Personnel - Importance to mission" cell, listing selectable values: Clear, Very High, High, Moderate, Low, Very Low, None.
4.12 Complete Duty Cycles Page (Step 11)
The next step in completing the mission profile is to define the duty cycle of the system and individual items. To open this page: select the Duty Cycle tab.
The Duty Cycle Details contains a table with two distinct sections: the first section on the left displays the system structure down to part level and the corresponding duration of operation of each item, while the second section on the right contains cells divided by mission phase and marked by percentages representing the duty cycle of an item.
To complete the Duty Cycle page:
- Double-click a cell that corresponds to the item and mission phase
- Enter a numerical value to represent a fraction (e.g. 0.1 for 10%) or percentage (50 for 50%)
- Select Enter and verify that the new value is reflected in the cell (new values are highlighted in bold)
- Repeat until all duty cycles are defined
- Save Changes
Note: When the duty cycle for a subsystem is changed, the new duration of operation is reflected for all lower LOI. For example, a subsystem with a duration of operation of 10 hours has one mission phase with a duty cycle of 100%. When the user changes this duty cycle to 50%, the new duration of operation for the subsystem is now 5 hours, and all components under this subsystem now have a maximum duration of operation of 5 hours.
Figure 25 ("Duty Cycle page") shows the full "Regular Trip" duty cycle table for phases Ignition, Acceleration, Cruise, Turning, Highway A1, Highway B2, Mountain Terrain, Deceleration, Shut-down against items:

This is a worked example demonstrating that subsystem-level duty-cycle overrides (e.g. Driveline at 0% during Ignition/Shut-down, Power Generation at 50% during Ignition/Shut-down) constrain the effective operating duration of all descendant components beneath them, per the Note above.
4.13 Create a Mission Group (Step 12)
Once two or more mission profiles have been completed, the user can aggregate multiple mission profiles by creating a mission group.
The Mission Group page consists of three sections:

| Mission Profile Details | Displays the name, duration, total cumulative parameter (read-only), and description fields for the mission group. A checkbox for using proportional mission durations is present under the name field to allow the user to change the duration field and group ratio cells for each mission profile. |
| Related Documents and Images | Displays the documents and images tables. The user can view and export the files attached to each category. |
| Mission Profile Groups | Displays a table with information for each mission profile. The first column contains a checkbox for selecting mission profiles to include or exclude from the current mission group. The user can edit either the group cycles or group ratio cells for each mission profile. |
To create and define a mission group:
- Select the New Group button in the Overview / Management page
- Verify that the New Mission Group page is automatically displayed
- Enter a mission group name in the Name field
- Select the checkbox to Use proportional mission durations – this allows the user to edit the Duration field and Group Ratio cells
- Enter a numerical value in the Duration field (proportional mission durations checkbox selected)
- Enter a description in the Description field
- Attach Documents & Image files
- Select the checkboxes under the Active column to include the mission profile in the mission group
- Select the cells under the Group Cycles column to change the numerical values for the number of mission cycles for each mission profile (proportional mission durations checkbox deselected)
- Select the cells under the Group Ratio column to change the numerical values for the percentage contribution of each mission profile (proportional mission durations checkbox selected)
- Save changes
